Sign our Pledge to Save the Chesapeake Bay Critters!

Blue crabs, Bay oysters, striped bass and other fisheries are not only iconic to the Bay, but an integral part to the human health and wealth of the 17 million people who live along this region. That's because a healthy fishery means a safe, healthy Bay for everyone.

But in the last century, local fish populations have been dwindling across waterways thanks to increased pollution into the Bay, and its rivers and streams. Bayside communities dependent on fishing are struggling.

There is some good news. Oyster numbers are improving: Roughly a billion oysters are planted each year, and they're surviving better than they have in decades. And thanks to progress being made under the Chesapeake Clean Water Blueprint—the landmark federal/state plan to save the Bay—underwater dead zones are shrinking. We're now about half way to our clean water goals. But it's up to us to keep the momentum going and to finish the job.

All of us need to push harder, and stay committed to restoration efforts for the oysters, the blue crabs, and all the critters and people who depend on the health of our waterways. Please sign on to our pledge to show that you're committed to doing your part to help save the critters and the Bay!
