Tell Europe to Stand Strong on Its Plan to Require Zero-Emissions Vehicles and to Fight Climate Change

Powerful corporations have done it again. Across the world, many of us had celebrated when the European Union (EU) originally announced it was going to fight against climate change in part by banning companies from selling new fossil fuel-based cars in 2035. But, wealthy representatives from the car industry seem to have successfully pressured the EU to soften this requirement.

This obviously shows the EU is susceptible to pressure, though. That means we can also exert our influence here and convince the EU to do the right thing!

Sign the petition to demand that the European Union stand strong and maintain its original plans to prohibit sales of new diesel and petrol cars!

Starting in 2035, all new cars sold within the European Union were going to have to be completely zero-emissions, meaning they wouldn't emit greenhouse gases that speed up the alarming process of climate change.

But, naturally, the auto industry and dirty energy corporations hated this plan. They claimed 10 years wasn't enough time to turn this proposal into a reality - but the truth is, they've had far more than 10 years to work on building electric and other sustainable options. Because of their resistance to change, the Earth and all beings living on it will now suffer the consequences.

The Earth is warming up at a faster and faster pace. Hurricanes are worsening. Floods and droughts and wildfires are sweeping across our planet. Experts with the UN have warned that we may already have hit the global warming tipping point. We do not have any time left to be tentative about fighting climate change. We MUST insist on strong, full measures here to protect the entire globe!

Half-measures and bowing to corporations is what got us into this whole mess. We cannot continue caving to corporate interests! Sign the petition to demand that the European Union remains committed to ending our reliance on fossil fuels.
