Tell Congress to Support Conservation and Recreation!

URGENT: Renew and Fully Fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund, Critical Funding for the National Park System! Expires in September!

Across the U.S., our national parks, forests, state parks, and local parks make up our natural heritage, protected and conserved for future generations to explore and enjoy. From restoring wild salmon habitat to building and expanding urban parks, tens of thousands of projects which enhance clean water and increase our opportunities to get outside have received funds from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). LWCF funding comes from royalties generated by oil drilling on federal lands. No taxpayers funds are used.

Only once in its fifty year history was the LWCF fully funded at $900 million a year. $17 billion of LWCF funds have been diverted elsewhere. Hundreds of thousands of acres of habitat could have been purchased to conserve our national parks, forests, refuges, and state and local parks.

Over fifty years, LWCF has conserved land in every state and helped fund over 41,000 state and local park projects. This stimulates the local economy and creates new jobs through increased outdoor recreational activities and tourism. The LWCF fund conserves national parks, forests, land by rivers, lakes, forests, farms, ranches, trails, fish and wildlife refuges, state and local parks. It also protects rivers, watershed areas, water supplies, and helps ensure clean water across the nation.

The Land and Water Conservation Fund will expire in 2015 unless Congress takes action!

Sign the petition today and tell Congress to support habitat, recreation, and clean water!
