Call to Ban Vaquita-Harmful Seafood Imports from Mexico!

You can help save the vaquita, the world's most endangered porpoise, today by joining the Natural Resources Defense Council, the Animal Welfare Institute, and the Center for Biological Diversity in asking the US president and administration to ban vaquita-harmful seafood imports from Mexico.

The situation is dire! Fewer than 30 vaquita remain, and if the illegal fishing trend in the Gulf of California continues, the vaquita will be extinct in two years.

The solution for vaquita survival is a permanent ban on all gillnets in the upper Gulf of California and prosecution of illegal fishing, but Mexico only adopted a partial ban on vaquita-drowning gillnets in June. As a result, we petitioned the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) for emergency protections under the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA) that would ban all vaquita-harming seafood imports from Mexico.

Take action today: Stand with the Natural Resources Defense Council, the Animal Welfare Institute, and the Center for Biological Diversity in asking the US government to ban vaquita-harmful seafood imports from Mexico.
