Urge Congress to Protect Students from Bullying!

Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students have historically been alienated, harassed, and bullied in their schools, often with little or no intervention from school personnel. Far too many of these students have underperformed or dropped out in response to the lack of safety and support. No student should feel scared going to school.

Federal statutory protections address discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex and disability. Unfortunately, federal civil rights laws do not expressly protect students from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Representatives Jared Polis (D-CO) and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) have introduced the Student Non-Discrimination Act (SNDA), which would prohibit public schools from discriminating against any student on the basis of actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity.

Tell your representatives in Congress to pass SNDA and protect our nation's LGBT youth.
Dear Member of Congress,

Please support the Student Non-Discrimination Act and help protect LGBT students nation-wide. It's past time to prohibit public schools from discriminating against students on the basis of actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity.

This issue is important to me because I know that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students have historically been alienated, harassed, and bullied in their schools, often with little or no intervention from school personnel.

Please support this legislation and ensure our children are safe from bullying at school.
