Don't Remove Hillary Clinton and Helen Keller from Texas Social Studies Curriculum

The Texas Board of Education recently voted to "streamline" the social studies curriculum in public schools. In doing so, they would boot out Hillary Clinton, Helen Keller, Eleanor Roosevelt and numerous other important historical figures.

Students in Texas deserve better than to be presented with a distorted view of history. They also deserve to read about the history of women and of minority groups, so that all students feel included and represented.

Social studies in Texas already mis-represent history, by suggesting that the Civil War was not about slavery and stating that the Ku Klux Klan and Jim Crow laws never existed.

Please do not vote to approve these new changes which are even more damaging to students.
