Urge Senators to Support Nuclear Arms Reduction

Nuclear weapons are a major threat to our security. Even a small nuclear attack far away would have serious human, environmental and economic consequences.

Fortunately on April 8 the United States and Russia signed the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) to reduce each country's vast arsenal of strategic nuclear weapons. But to take effect the treaty must have the support of a two-thirds majority in the United States Senate.

Your senators need to hear that Americans haven't forgotten about this critical issue. Urge them to support the START treaty now.
Dear Senator,

Nuclear weapons are a liability, not an asset.

Not only do they not protect us from current threats like terrorism, but with some 20,000 warheads around the globe, there is enormous risk for accidents or for them to fall into the wrong hands.

I therefore urge you to ratify the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) and support other efforts to reduce the grave threat posed by nuclear weapons.
