Eat more fish, for people and planet

It's well known that getting a rainbow of color in your diet is good for you. However, you may not think about mixing it up on your plate with a variety of proteins. The USDA recommends eating seafood twice a week as an easy way to add variety and boost heart, brain and overall health.  It's not just your and your family's health that benefits from eating more wild, American seafood--the health of our oceans and survival of our coastal communities depend on it.

Seafood is packed with key nutrients and healthy fats, yet is relatively low in calories and saturated fat compared to other protein sources  By eating more fish you can (among the multitude of benefits) lower your risk of heart disease, improve memory and decrease decline as your brain ages.  Essentially, you're one step closer to becoming super-human.

Also, ocean fisheries that provide wild seafood emit far less greenhouse gas compared to their meat and poultry counterparts.  Plus, the consumption of wild seafood supports the livelihoods of American fishermen and creates jobs in the small coastal communities where fish are caught.

We at Fishpeople believe that by eating more wild, sustainably-sourced seafood, you are doing something that's good for you and helps change the world.

Pledge today to take on the twice-a-week challenge of swapping out your typical, go-to proteins for nutrient-rich and planet-friendly seafood (preferably wild, sustainable fish and shellfish).
