The cost of college has increased by an estimated 1,120 percent over the past 30 years, turning student loans into an inevitable reality for most young people in the United States.
But there is hope. Giving borrowers the ability to refinance student loans would relieve some of the burden of sky-high interest rates, allowing individuals to begin saving for retirement, purchasing homes, and most important, moving forward with their professional and personal lives.

We, the undersigned, urge members of Congress to address the student loan crisis.
Right now, Americans are more than $1.2 trillion in student debt. Something must be done.While home owners, corporations, and governments can easily refinance their loans, individuals of all ages across the country struggle just to pay the minimum on their student loans every month, with no option of ever refinancing.
I stand with organizations such as Generation Progress in telling Congress that we need student loan refinancing legislation.
