The Arctic Ocean is one of the Earth’s most sensitive ecological sites and home to some of our most iconic and endangered species. But climate change is harming this pristine environment–and it may be auctioned off to oil and gas companies if we don’t act now!

Thank you for calling for the Arctic Ocean to be permanently protected!
As you know, the Arctic Ocean is America’s last pristine ocean, a vital feeding ground for at-risk species like walruses, polar bears, seals, and bowhead whales. But it is also an unforgiving environment. With virtually no infrastructure for emergency response, a spill there would be catastrophic. This is the last place we should allow Big Oil to drill.
Drilling in the Arctic also would signal our lack of commitment to address climate change. We have a moral obligation not to leave our children and grandchildren a world beyond repair, and to do that we must accelerate our transition to clean energy—not make new, long-term investments in fossil fuel development like opening up the Arctic Ocean to drilling.
We must seize the opportunity to take drilling off the table forever in the Arctic Ocean and demonstrate to the world that the United States is leading the way to a future of clean energy and climate action.
