Bring Science to the Candidates

The next president will lead a nation that is facing critical and complex challenges. As presidential candidates hit the campaign trail, we need to demand that candidates from both parties stand up for science and put forward proactive, evidence-based plans to address the most serious issues facing Americans today, including climate change, nuclear arms, food security, and energy and vehicle development.

To truly stand up for science, the next president must be prepared to defend science-based laws, such as the Clean Air Act, from attacks; strengthen government scientists' ability to do their jobs through better scientific integrity protections; support reforms that rein in special interest influence on government; and more.

That's why we're calling on the presidential candidates to debate the big science & technology issues of our day – add your voice today!
Given the many urgent scientific and technological challenges facing America and the rest of the world, the increasing need for accurate scientific information in political decision making, and the vital role scientific innovation plays in spurring economic growth and competitiveness, we call for public debates in which the U.S. presidential and congressional candidates share their views on the issues of science and technology policy, health and medicine, and the environment.

Sincerely,
[Your name]
