Support The Historic Bill to End Canada's Commercial Seal Hunt

Thanks to a courageous Canadian Senator, there is now a Bill that would end this hunt, which is expected to take the lives of more than 250,000 baby seals this year alone.

Imagine a Canada in which there are no more baby seals hooked and dragged onto boats while still conscious. No more seals as young as three weeks old being skinned alive. No more needless slaughter of hundreds of thousands of seals each year.

Senator Mac Harb wants to fill the Senate with messages of support for his Bill. Help us collect over 250,000 signatures in the next few weeks - one message for every seal that will likely be killed in this year's slaughter.

With the proposed seal product ban in the EU and IFAW's success in helping to secure Russia's ban on hunting harp seals less than a year old, the momentum to end Canada's commercial seal hunt has never been stronger. The prospect of making a lasting change to save the seals has never been so real, so please sign the petition today!
I am writing to urge you to support Canadian Senator Harb's efforts to end Canada's cruel commercial seal hunt.

This hunt only continues to exist because it is propped up by government support and taxpayers' money. For years, the vast majority of Canadians and caring people worldwide have been calling for an end to the hunt and the time to act is now.

The animal welfare concerns associated with Canada's commercial seal hunt are well documented. This hunt is unnecessary and economically nonviable. The time has come to transition Canadian sealers into new and more rewarding industries that do not involve cruelty to animals.

Please use your power as a concerned citizen to fight for an end to this cruel and unnecessary slaughter.

The world is watching.

Sincerely,
