Call on All Canadian Politicians to Make Child Survival an Immediate Priority

Regardless of gender, race, geography or circumstance, every child should have the right to grow up with a bright future. But for many around the world, the question is not what they will be when they grow up, but if they will grow up at all.

Tragically, 16,000 children die every day.

What's worse, far too many children's lives are cut short by entirely preventable causes. Many deaths come as a result of treatable illnesses, malnutrition, poor hygiene and lack of safe water and sanitation.

As a country, we have the power to tackle the obstacles to child survival. But to do so, Canada needs to prioritize policies that put children at the heart.

There's no better time than now to act on behalf of all children.

As Canadian politicians campaign for the upcoming election, we have an opportunity to make our voices heard. Stand up for children worldwide by letting you candidates know what matters most to you.

Join UNICEF's mission for a better future for all children in the world and urge Canadian politicians to prioritize the most basic human right of all – a child's right to survive.

Dear [Candidate],

I believe that regardless of circumstances or socioeconomic background, every child should have the right to grow up with a bright future. But for many around the world, the question is not what they will be when they grow up, but if they will grow up at all.

As a country, we have the power to tackle the obstacles of child survival. But to do so, political candidates like you need to prioritize policies that put children at the heart.

I am standing up for children worldwide, and that is why I am writing you today. As my candidate for Parliament, I urge you to prioritize the most basic human right of all in your policies moving forward – a child's right to survive.
