WHATS GOING ON HERE?
This is a very cruel HIGH GASSING shelter.
Its history of animal cruelty is a long one...
During an inspection last year, it was discovered that the parish had been, and continues to use a gas chamber that often does not properly function.
The chambers door is often ajar and cant be sealed properly without bracing it with a screwdriver. The chamber also sits at a tilt, so its effectiveness is definitely in question.
Employees often have to run the chambers cycle twice, in order to kill the animals placed inside. This is a EXTREMELY INHUMANE and terrible ordeal for the animals subjected to this treatment and for the employees forced to watch.1/ WHY ARE THE PARISH POLICE JURY...enforcing a very cruel 4 day..RESCUE/ PULL POLICY?
THEN...they GAS these dear innocent animals to death!
2/ WHY are there no public adoptions allowed here?
**Note: that the Parish Police Jury strictly enforce their rule:
PETS ARE TO BE KEPT 4 DAYS, THEN KILLED (in the gas chamber),
EVEN.... if there are empty kennels. We the undersigned URGE the Authorities to investigate the cruelty at this shelter.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH..you need to begin a new era , where as much kindness to animals is possibly shown, and any Euthanasia is done via EBI...only.. after all efforts to find new homes for all the animals has been exhausted.
The very cruel 4 day policy of yours.. IS NOT FAIR OR HUMANE!
This 4 day rule...needs to be reviewed, and all GASSINGS STOPPED.. asap.
Give the animals a decent chance at life! *******************************
