We, the undersigned, would like to draw your kind attention to the following:
For some time now Google Books has offered many people the possibility to look inside books allowing them the chance to decide whether or not to buy a certain book.
Despite being able to search a certain word or concept, obviously they cannot edit or copy and paste the preview text. This is important as it ensures copyright protection, which we agree with.
Unfortunately, however, blind internet users are excluded from this fantastic search and preview application, as none of the available screen readers can read the images of the pages.
The undersigned plead that Google Books be designed so as to make this fantastic and growing treasure accessible to disabled people, namely to the blind.
We are sure your organization will take our appeal into consideration and make their best in order to make Internet a better tool for all, by making Google Books accessible to screen readers, thus offering the disabled better opportunities for learning, culture and entertainment.
