Bring Jason Home to Canada

This petition is in  regards to my son Jason McIntosh, who is currently incarcerated in a Florida Correctional Facility for 14 yrs.  My son is 24yrs old, and has dual citizenship.  Jason was born in the USA , but grew up with me in Canada.  Jason went down to Florida when he was 16 to spend time with his father, who at the time, resided in Florida.  I was having medical difficulties at the time, diabetes and just starting dialysis( have since had a double transplant), and felt that like any young boy curious to get to know his father I would let him go .  Jason was not happy down there and was expressing a desire to return to Canada. 

One night Jason and his friends took his step moms truck out to go down the road to get a video game, at another friend's house, when Jason lost control of the truck, (old country dirt road), and ended up upside down in a ditch, tragically one of the boys riding in the back of the truck was killed.  Jason was completely drug and alcohol free, this was a tragic accident.    Jason didnt hear anything for the longest time, and we were discussing his return to Canada when he was charged with 3rd degree murder and driving without a licence causing death(as an adult even thought he was 16 at the time).  Jason was sentenced to 4 yrs and 2 yrs probation, after he got out of prison. 

When Jason got out he had a job at a vet clinic within a week, and started paying for the boys funeral and court fees.  He had the job for approximately a year, when he was layed off.  In the meantime his father moved to NY  state, so Jason moved in with some friends of his fathers.  He was all alone in Florida with no family , and became very depressed and lonely.  Jason couldnt find more work as he had 2 felonies, not much education, and it was a little place in Florida with high unemployment.

Jason was almost done his probation, and was looking forward to his return to Canada, as was I, when one night he entered an unlocked  home he had visited before with friends to see if anyone was around.  When the home owner returned he called the police, as there was blood left behind, as Jason had cut himself  on the way there, anyway the home owner said there were some insignificant things missing, Jason says he didnt take anything, and no evidence of this has ever been proven.  After running DNA  tests the police charged Jason with burglary of a dwelling, and theft.  The Florida state reopened his previous case, as he violated his probation  gave him 14 yrs with 4 yrs served, and sentenced him to 14 yrs for the other charges, I find this absolutely unjust  and so does anyone else I speak to about it.
 
Jason is all alone down in a Florida correctional facility, with no one to visit him as he is so far away. He is very depressed, he has tried to get an education, but they deny him because he has too much time to do.  His request for a transfer has been in Ottawa for almost 2 yrs. Can you please approve Jason's International Inmate Transfer back to Canada, this is where his friends and family live and where my son wants to live and grow to be a productive member of society.  Jason is my only child and I love him and miss him dearly. I would like to add that Jason thinks about daily and regrets what happened to his friend.
