Domestic Economic Abuse

  • von: Maka Mezalzelet

Domestic economic abuse is present when an abuser has control over all a victim's economic resources. In Israel there is a lack of attention to those persons who are living under domestic economic abuse caused by their spouses. In Israel there currently aren't any laws against this particular form of abuse.

Through this petition it is our hope to convince members of the Israeli Knesset to pass legislation to protect individuals from domestic economic abuse caused by their spouses, estranged spouses, or ex-spouses.

We the members of the organization of 'Maka Mezalzelet' plan to present this Care2 signed petition, to Parliament Member Aliza Lavie, who is currently the committee chairperson of the Status of Women, in the Knesset, Jerusalem.

Your signature on this petition will demonstrate to the world the solidarity we all have in our need for freedom from domestic economic abuse. Thank you for taking the time to read this petition, and thank you for signing.
The members of "Maka Mezalzelet' are suffering from domestic economic abuse. Currently we, the victims, need as many people as we can get for signing the  petition here. The Israeli law does not supply any protection for the  victims of domestic economic abuse. The domestic economic abuse continues to be unconstrained.
An abuser still can use control against the best interests of the victim and he/she is unable to receive help from anywhere. The victims cannot receive even their own money. In its extreme form, the victim has been put on a strict "very low allowance".

The legislation we are promoting would enable the violent partner to change his/her behavior through the help of court-ordered professional treatment.

Thanks in advance for your help
