Children with Type 1 diabetes
Please help us find a cure and change these school laws.
Hi, we are the mommies of Parker Davis and Dylan George who are type 1 diabetics. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which there is no cure. These children will not outgrow type 1 diabetes; they are insulin dependent for life. Although researchers are in the process of finding a cure for diabetes, for now we need your help! These children like millions of others who have type 1 diabetes endure a LOT at the young age of 4 and 5. Parker was diagnosed at the young age of 15 months and Dylan at 25 months, many children are diagnosed even younger than this. These children have their fingers pricked at least 5-10 times a day and insulin shots 3-6 times daily. They need to be monitored constantly of their food in take and activity. Parker has even had seizures from this disease due to low blood sugars dropping too fast. The Pre-school/Daycare facilities are not allowed due to State Licensing laws to care for Type 1 diabetic children, LET%u2019S CHANGE THIS LAW! There are parents that have suffered a financial burden due to having to quit their job in order to care for their children. The Pre-school/Daycare systems need to be allowed to teach our children and give them the education they deserve. We as parents believe that anyone whom we have designated as a trained authorized representative should have the right to care for our children and administer insulin injections. This is the law in Public School and so should it be for Private/Pre-school. These children need an education and need to live normal lives just like any other child. Please help us by signing this petition and help make a difference in this world for children with diabetes. Our boys count on us as mommies and so do millions of others that suffer discrimination due to this disease. PLEASE HELP!! Every signature counts. Thank you for your support and taking the time to read our story.
