(SAVE PROPOSITION 13) This is a petition to Protect the Two-Thirds Vote and save Proposition 13

Submitted to the U. S. & California State Senate and Assembly

Whereas: Proposition 13 was passed in 1978 by an overwhelming majority of Californians, and;

Whereas: Proposition 13 ended the system of annual reassessment of property to establish market value, and of increasing property taxes each year based on that reassessment, and;

Whereas: Proposition 13 cuts property taxes in half, but bills are introduced in each legislative session to create exceptions to Prop. 13's two-thirds majority requirement and even removing the 1% cap;

Now therefore, I hereby exercise my right of petition to urge you to reject any legislation that would undermine taxpayer protection guaranteed under Proposition 13, revoke or repeal Proposition 13, or in any way return the taxation of property to the system reformed by Proposition 13.
