SAVE LION'S PARK TREES! NOW, BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!

25 Mature Trees have been issued a death sentence and are slated to be chopped down simply because they don't fit into the designers scheme of things.

The Parks, Arts and Community Services Commissioners approved this half baked idea WITHOUT PUBLIC INPUT!!! The two public meetings only covered the design of the playground concept plan, NOT Playground Play Equipment, Plant Palette for Lions Park Playground, Tree and Turf Plan for Lions Park Playground, Restroom Conceptual Plan or Tree Disposition and Removal Plan - all listed as attachments WITHOUT links for the public to review. The attachments were ONLY provided to the Commissioners in the April 25th 2019 staff report!

Please sign the petition to appeal this poor decision and to bring it before the City Council to review!
    Update #2vor 4 Jahren
I wanted to give you an update as to what has been happening re: the trees in Lion's Park. I spoke at last Tuesday's City Council meeting and followed up with an email to each Council member. If you would like to read the email check on the Costa Mesa Sand Box facebook group where it will be posted. Currently we are asking that the green fence surrounding the playground area where the trees are located be taken down. The library has been built. There is nothing to justify keeping it up.
    Update #1vor 5 Jahren
THERE IS NO PUBLISHED EVIDENCE SUPPORTING THE TREES ARE
UNHEALTHY OR REQUIRE REMOVAL. The truth is, these trees simply do not
fit the city's modern architecture for the new Lion's Park. There has been no
public discussion addressing the destruction. We cannot destroy nature or animal
habitats just because it doesn't look trendy.
A group of residents will peacefully protest at the park's opening Friday, May
24th 10-11am. Please join us for a sign making party! Contact Cindy at 714-376-7414.
