Each year a new life cycle begins for five species of sea turtles on the shores of Cape Hatteras who make their nests and hatch before finding their way back to the ocean. But because of the human interference caused by frequent vacationers and tourists, these turtles are in serious danger.
Cape Hatteras is a majestic part of America's eastern coastline, offering gorgeous beaches and endless beauty. It serves as one of the Southeast's prime vacation spots, where people can get away from the routine of daily life. But it's precisely human activity that's adversely affecting the natural ecosystems present at Cape Hatteras.
Off Road Vehicles (ORVs) often run over these turtle nests or vulnerable baby turtles that have just hatched
The Preserving Public Access to Cape Hatteras Beaches Act (S. 486) would undermine a plan to limit the use of ORVs in the area. Sign your name, protect these sea turtles and stop the passage of S. 489.
