Help us to either save the “Old Owen Sound Jail/courthouse” or send the memorabilia to a much safer location!

Owen Sound is known for it's rich heritage and the people of the city value that, but caring for the Old Owen Sound Jail/courthouse has declined in recent years. My grandfather was the jail governor in 1965 and his wife/ my grandma was the matron. They all lived in the residence attached to the jail and courthouse. My grandma has visited the jail after it was closed in 2011 and the condition was expected for sitting for a few years. It is now 2019 and my dad and I explored for a second time to find the condition an absolute moldy disaster!!! I've shown my grandma the photos from when we explored this year and she said "it was not that bad when I went through back then". In my mind there's no way to save the jail part of the building which is sad to see. It's too bad that the people at city hall didn't keep up with the condition. But if it ever does get destroyed, my second argument would be to consider preserving some of the items before they are destroyed by a wrecking ball, or trespassers! Some of the items that should be preserved are: corner stone containing newspaper clippings, and money from possibly the 1800s, the painting that sits above the judges stand in the courtroom, the plaque  at the front of the building where former Mayer, Ovid Jackson revealed it in the 1980s. I I would also like to see some jail doors and visitation phones from the jail be brought out if they consider demolition. Which I hope they don't because there is too much history in one place and I don't think that our city takes that into consideration which is sad for a city that revolves around its heritage. I would like to thank everyone who has read all of this and I hope you consider signing this petition so we can do something about a situation that has been avoided for far too long
