Throw the book at monkey slayer!

Robert Matson Conyers was hired to ship over two dozen primates to Thailand. But someone, somewhere didn't fill out the paperwork correctly and the crated animals were sent back to Los Angeles International Airport--after they had already traveled to China. On the trip back to LA, fifteen monkeys died of cold and starvation. Only the quick action of Los Angeles veterinarians saved those who survived the horrendous trip. For this atrocity, Conyers is facing only six months in jail and a $20,000 fine--if even that. Tell the Los Angeles Superior Court to prosecute this case to the full extent of the law and send a message to animal traders that THEY are responsible for the lives of animals they place in captivity.
We the undersigned are in mourning for the fifteen dead primates, subjected to a horrific and needless trip from China to LA characterized by cold and starvation. It appears that animal shipper Robert Matson Conyers is responsible for failing to make sure their travel documents were in order. The trade in exotic animals is immoral at the best of times, and this incident represents the worst case scenario of what can go wrong. Conyers was responsible for the well being of these sentient animals and he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of animal cruelty laws.
