Congress, Protect Native American Communities from Climate Change!

A recent senate hearing talked about how climate change is affecting tribal communities, with Native American and Alaska Native leaders discussing about how they are experiencing droughts, their villages are underwater due to coastal erosion, and many other issues.

Mike Williams, the chief of the Yupit Nation in Akiak, Alaska, said in the hearing that he can catch salmon at his childhood home now because it's underwater. He said that native communities have always lived off the land and will continue, but that it's difficult to deal with these new challenges caused by climate change.

Environmental changes in native communities are a serious problem that Congress needs to take action on.

Please tell Congress to come up with a plan to address the impact of climate change on native communities!

I am writing to you today concerning a recent senate hearing that focused on the impact of climate change on Native American communities.

Because native communities live off of the land, climate change has really affected them. They have dealt with many issues ranging from entire towns being underwater from coastal erosion to droughts and many other problems.

It is time for Congress to act and come up with a plan to protect Native American communities from climate change.

Thank you for your time.
