Request for Leniency in prison sentence for Mr. Brannon Steck

  • von: Lynn Mcintyre

This petition is to respectfully request your consideration of leniency for Mr. Brannon Steck when he is sentenced in Fulton County Court for charges of child molestation on May 23, 2012 and at any future time that he may be considered for parole.

Mr. Steck was advised by his attorney’s to plead guilty to charges of child molestation in order to avoid a public media circus, which would have been an embarrassment for his community and family. Mr. Steck has always had a reputation as a kind and gentle person. He has always been known to be considerate of others; he has been an upstanding citizen, a positive role model and an excellent music teacher to our children and to students in the Roswell community throughout his tenure as a teacher at Holcomb Bridge Middle School.  We absolutely trust him with our children.

His reputation has been maligned, as this investigation has been grossly mis-handled by the police and spun out of control via a media feeding frenzy intent on destroying a career in exchange for sensational news.   Brannon Steck is in every way an ethical, moral and dependable person who is dedicated to his music, his religious convictions and who does his best to set a good example for everyone.  The evidence in this case does not justify this outcome.  It is very suspect, highly circumstantial, and the victim’s motives should be carefully cross-examined, not accepted at face value with no evaluation.

Brannon Steck does not deserve to have his life ruined by years spent in jail.  His encouragement, direction and tutelage were instrumental to providing direction to many students’ lives.  His mentorship of his students and his positive influence in their lives can’t be measured.  He was awarded a teacher of the year award.  We are amazed by his courage in the face of these terrible circumstances.  Please give him a chance to address these charges, and consider this request for leniency when you sentence this man.  He is our hero and we stand behind him 100%!
