Imagine a New Holiday - National Unplugging Day

There’s no denying it - we’re wired in. From our cell phones to computers, we are all plugged in to the internet and social media. While these outlets can provide opportunity and escape, it comes at a cost. We’re letting our lives pass us by. From our personal relationships, simple conversations, to the very world around us, we are sacrificing our attention. We are missing out.

So, I suggest recourse! One day a year, let’s come together in physical reality - and celebrate. Let’s turn our computers off, put our phones down, and simply engage the world around us. May we enjoy each other’s company, and take the opportunity to love and reflect upon ourselves, and what it means to be human in the new millennium.
