Save Spencer Park, Newport RI

Located between Wellington Ave and Narragansett Ave, this small neighborhood park was once an inlet to Narragansett bay.  The proposed 6 million gallon underground tank would destroy our park and its 25 trees, and cause constant flooding to the dig site and neighborhood.  We believe this holding tank will not eliminate the overflow of stormwater concerns or solve the problem of the cities sewage pipes and pumps for treating the stored overflows.  The construction of a 6 million gallon holding tank will likely create more problems and expenses than it would solve for the city of Newport RI.

Please sign our petition to Julie Forgue and the City Council, urging them to withdrawal this option and find a viable solution to the city sewer problems; working with the DEM, EPA and Army Corps of Engineers.
