As the years keep passing, African American Artists, small and large arts organization, are still suffering from lack of financial support by major funders and the government agencies. Suffering from lack of respect by city and state agencies that control the funding. We would like to see some changes made where African American history, our history, customs and cultures will matter as all other cultures are respected in this country called America. African American Artists have to live, eat and work before and after the so called dedicated "Black History Month"; The shortest month of the year. In case it has not been realized we are alive and needing support beyond that one month. Artists should not be starving in the USA. Without arts life would be colorless, no movement, no rhythm, no sound other than word without meaning. Poets would not be able to speak, dancers would not be able to move, children would not be able to make music, there would be no drawings on the walls and our books would be empty and colorless. We have to change the way America thinks about arts, because art is as important as food is to the mind and body. Take a stand for the arts, help us to get more funding allocated for artists and arts organizations in the USA. Remember being an artist is like being a cook, teacher or a banker. Please take the time and sign our petition so that in the coming months and years, artist can make a living from there passion.
