Sunshine State Puppies in North Port Florida currently sells puppies advertised as being from “high quality breeders.” Apparently, they are not even using USDA certified breeders, otherwise known as puppy mills. These independent “breeders” are not regulated by anyone and have no standards to adhere to, leading to horrific cases of abuse of the breeding dogs.
Sunshine State Puppies can choose the Humane Option by ceasing to sell from puppy mills and opening their store to the many rescue groups here in the Sarasota area.
By choosing this option, Sunshine State Puppies would be looked upon kindly by local residents who are unhappy with their current support of puppy mill breeders and brokers. The many rescue groups in the area, Humane Society, and Animal Control would benefit from having many more homes available for their animals who are desperately in need of loving owners. Their customers would benefit by receiving healthy animals and complaints against them would cease.
