City of Aspen Daily Farm Stand

Would you like convenient, daily access to locally grow organic produce? The Roaring Fork Beginning Farmers would like to petition the City of Aspen to establish a municipally supported daily farm stand in downtown Aspen. Consumption of locally grown organic produce reduces the carbon footprint and increases the nutritional value of that food while supporting the growth of our local food system, our local farmers and food security.

Precedence exists for such municipally supported farmers markets. The City of West Monroe, Louisiana has held its commitment to the farming community of Northeast Louisiana and operated a daily farm stand since 1986 providing a clean and convenient structure where locally grown, top quality produce could be sold to the general public. This model creates more flexibility for farmers and convenient access to local food for consumers. Imagine a space stocked with fresh local produce from May to October on city property in downtown Aspen.
