Arkham Knight is just about the perfect game, missing just one key feature- full challenge maps like in the previous games, and above all the ability to play as the brilliantly voice acted, wonderfully crafted characters with gameplay already set to go in the form of Harley Quinn, Red Hood, Nightwing, Robin, Catwoman, Azrael, eventually Batgirl, and more in these challenge maps and the currently existing AR challenges upon addition.
This action is important because it's truly the only thing stopping Arkham Knight from being my absolute favourite in the series and my favourite game with endless hours of content and fun.
Okay, Rocksteady- this isn't whining. I'll establish something first. I think your game is absolutely near perfect. I'm loving every second. Sure, I hope to see Mr Freeze again, but more villains will pop up in DLC. The game has been nothing short of an absolute treat to play in story mode and, short as they are, both Harley and Red Hood were good fun too.
But I have one main concern. A concern which is honestly the only thing stopping Arkham Knight from becoming my absolute favourite game in the Arkham series and probably my favourite, most flawless game ever. And that's a gaping lack of challenge maps. Seriously, where are they?!
Now, AR is good fun and all. I enjoy being able to replay specific missions under different scenarios and whatnot. But I miss my old challenge maps. The multi round, ludicrously large scale combat ones with both extreme and normal versions. Simple predator, where I could do what I liked with small modifications if I wanted, in a variety of maps from across the game.
Above all what is disappointing is the lack of ability to play as allies. Red Hood, Harley Quinn- both are wonderfully put together but can only be played in their small stories. Robin, Nightwing and Catwoman (and Azrael)- incredibly voiced acted, unique moves which flow beautifully and play well and are all nicely packaged and ready to deploy from City into AR/Challenge Maps. We're not asking to play as Alfred, we're asking to play as characters with a modder for PC will surely add with simplicity eventually- and we'd ask that you complete this perfect gaming experience by adding it to the game.
I reiterate- Arkham Knight is a near flawless game. But this crazy omission of something so many players love and which took up hours and hours with no regrets on the last games for me is such a simple thing to add which would make Arkham Knight the perfect Batman gaming experience.
