NO to distraction of THABA YA MAREA

There is a particular hill in Matsaganeng, Botswana called Thaba Ya Marea, that is being systematically destroyed, ruining our heritage in that area. This began sometime 2019 when a South African company snuck into Botswana and stated cutting into the hill without informing the residents of the area or the Botswana authorities.
As a native of the area, people should understand that unlike plants and trees these rocks will never regrow and will be forever lost to future generations. They will not have opportunity to experience what we have experienced while growing up appreciating these beautiful hill rocks.
I am glad that residents of the area have raised the alarm, as now locals have joined in the destruction of Thaba Ya Marea, scavenging from the damage that was caused by the excavators. The afore-mentioned company is now trying to persuade village elders to try and aid in their quest for mining rights in the area, further decimating our land and history that central to our culture.
This is a call to help us preserve Thaba Ya Marea for the love of nature, wildlife and environment. This is a call to say NO to the injustices being done to environment.
