Stop or significantly reduce Jamestown Village expansion.
JD Jamestown LLC is seeking zoning Variance for the construction of seven new buildings located in the Township of Toms River comprising Block 610 Lots 1, 2, 3, 5, 11, 30, 31 & 33.
The residence of the neighborhood surrounding Jamestown Village apartments have the following concerns:
1. Increased vehicle traffic along Walnut St and James St.
2. Complete a traffic study for volume on Walnut St and James St. Complete a second
traffic study determining excessive speeds above the posted 40MPH limit along
Walnut Street and 25MPH limit along James St.
-Walnut Elementary School is located on Walnut St. Many young students walk to school
on the sidewalks on both the North and South side of Walnut St. Increased traffic on
Wanut St will only further endanger our children. Toms River High School North also
adds to the foot traffic along the sidewalks on Walnut St
3. Limited parking within the complex, requiring overflow parking on Walnut St and
James St.
-Determine how the increase numbers of vehicle will be accommodated when the number
of parking spaces will be reduced from current available spaces. Have visitor parking
concerns been addressed?
4. The addition of (132) one bedroom apartments, (6) two bedroom apartments and (2) three
bedroom apartments may cause a transient neighborhood.
5. There are already are 8 existing multi unit apartment complexes on Walnut St.
(Those complexes are Walnut Cove, Enclave at Walnut, Walnut Bay, Residence of
Walnut, Paradise Club, Walnut Hollow and lastly Walnut Grove)
If a variance is granted at Jamestown Village apartments, it is likely to set a precedence
for future expansion along an already densely populated corridor.
6. A reduction in Open Space will result in the elimination of the courtyards between
existing buildings.
