Support the PUPS Act!

A loophole in the current Animal Welfare Act allows breeders to sell puppies online with no regulation. Unscrupulous breeders stack dogs in crowded wire cages, and they often get no exercise, medical care or human companionship.

Senators Dick Durbin and David Vitter introduced a bill that would close this loophole. The bill, called the Puppy Uniform Protection and Safety (PUPS) Act would require breeders who sell more than 50 dogs annually to undergo inspections and meet standards of care for their animals. The PUPS Act would also mandate daily exercise and clean, comfortable living conditions for dogs.

Online breeders must be kept accountable for their dogs' health and well-being. Please sign the petition to support the PUPS Act.

As you know, a loophole in the current Animal Welfare Act allows breeders to sell puppies online with no regulation. Unscrupulous breeders stack dogs in crowded wire cages, and they often get no exercise, medical care or human companionship.

We understand that Senators Dick Durbin and David Vitter introduced a bill that would close this loophole.

We believe that all breeders must be kept accountable for their dogs' health and well-being whether they sell their animals in stores or over the Internet. We respectfully urge you to stand up for dogs and pass the PUPS Act.
