UN Convention On The Rights Of The Child

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child November 20th, 1989, marks the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the treaty by the United Nations. However, The actual United Nations Declaration Of The Rights Of The Child is November, 20th, 1959, and while over the past 50 years all countries have ratified the convention, the United States remains one of only two countries in the world that have not. Ratification of the treaty is critical and urgent for continuing progress on children rights in this nation and for bolstering efforts to support and advance children rights as well as democracy, liberty, civil rights, the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, universal human rights, dignity, and well being worldwide. Ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child would strengthen and advance the US Constitution, US leadership, this nation values, the common goods, and humanity goodness and virtues.

Dear US President, US Congress and US Senate,
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child November 20th, 1989, marks the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the treaty by the United Nations. Children directly or indirectly have much at stake in the current debates over issues such as war, poverty, child care, abuses, violence, social ills, health care and services, federal paid parental leave, the recovery of the economy, legislation, and social structures. And the success of government initiatives on these efforts will depend on addressing the neglects of children that persists in such needs as health care, abuses, poverty and hunger, and violence in school as well as in society. Furthermore, by involving or educating children on their rights and the moral, ethics, and civics embedded in the Universal Human Rights at an early age would tremendously foster and advance global democracy, liberty, ethics and civics, harmony, understanding, tolerance, caring, empathy, collaboration, and co-existence. Furthermore, implementation the Convention on the Child Rights can help eliminate and prevent child marriage which exasperate human rights violations, poverty and sufferings; and reduce materrnal death. In addition, ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child would strengthen and advance the US Constitution, US leadership, this nation values, the common goods, and humanity goodness and virtues. It would be a great disservice to children and justice everywhere that the US does not participate in the single most important global mechanism for advancing children rights and well being. By joining and being active in , the US would participate and promote a stronger and more robust dialogue, alliance, and program between governments, civil society and human rights experts on the most effective means to achieve the well being for children world wide and society at large. As a member of the UN Security Council and UN Human Rights Council, the US must do all it can to protect, defend, and advance the UN as well as this nation ideals, principles, values, common goods, and mission. We hereby, strongly urge and encourage the Congress and Senate to include the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families an integral part of the Immigration Reform legislation to set good global examples; to support the UN in advancing the treaty to include all nations; and to transform societies and nations to build a better world and humanity. We thank you for your caring, support, empathy, efforts, and humility on this critical and urgent cause.
