Ford ⛔ Don't Make a U Turn on Climate Pollution

Ford Motor Company loudly supported the historic Paris climate agreement. When Trump announced he was pulling the U.S. out, Bill Ford complained he was "disappointed" and the company issued a statement saying "we believe climate change is real and remain deeply committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions."

Sounds good. Then why are Ford execs also plotting with the auto industry to work with Trump's EPA to roll-back and weaken historic auto fuel efficiency (CAFE) standards? That's right, just days after Trump's inauguration Ford and others were scheming to weaken clean car standards that were a huge step toward reducing climate pollution, while helping Americans save money at the gas pump.

Tell automakers we need to strengthen clean car standards – not roll them back – for cleaner air, a healthy climate, and more high-paying jobs to build the next generation of clean cars.

Despite Ford's "disappointment," they are working closely with the Trump administration to get these standards reversed. If they are successful, this will be a huge gift to corporate polluters at the expense of public health and our climate. Sign the petition and demand Ford back up their tough climate talk with action.

This is such a critical issue that we're partnering with the Sierra Club, Greenpeace, Public Citizen and other public interest groups to urge action from Ford.

Transportation is the single largest source of emissions in the U.S. For now, clean car standards are helping us stop 6 billion metric tons of dangerous carbon pollution and keep 12 billion barrels of oil in the ground. Rolling back these standards might be what the auto industry lobbyists want, but it would be a catastrophe for American families and our climate.
