One of the rarest great cats in the world was lost 2 May, 2015, when local police in Pelangai Gadang village, Western Sumatra, Indonesia, responded to a farmer's report that he had ensnared and killed a Sumatran tiger.
Experts estimate that just 400-500 tigers now live in Sumatra, with only 166 in a park near where the tiger was snared.
