Save Heather House Community Centre in Park Wood

Maidstone Borough Council Officers (not elected councillors) have determined that the closure of Heather House is an “operational must” and therefore a decision for officers to make and they have decided to fully close Heather House not later than 30th November 2017.

They have also looked at the possibility of closing the British Legion Hall and the redevelopment of that site is to fund a new Hall to replace Heather House. Maidstone Borough Council have already been in touch with Golding Homes and conducted pre application meetings with planners.

There is a need for a proper community hall to be retained in Park Wood.

We the undersigned ask that Maidstone Borough Council commit to maintaining Heather House community centre, Park Wood as a useable community facility until such time as concrete plans are confirmed for a replacement facility to be built. Further to this, we the undersigned ask that Heather House remains open to the public for as long as possible during this replacement development period.
