Seven cats died after a man literally trapped them in an airtight container, then threw them in an area of dumpsters.The tragic scene was discovered in West Bend, Wisconsin. Against all odds,
one sweet cat named Helena survived. She is only 1 year old and is now, thankfully, in the care of a local shelter.
But the trauma of having those other cats -- maybe even her siblings -- die around and on top of her will take a long time to heal.Those cats' lives were tragically cut short, and it's time that the perpetrator is held fully accountable.

he couldn't afford to feed the cats, so that's why he killed them. Certainly, many of us have felt the burden of high costs of pet care, but there is
absolutely no excuse to literally kill cats because you can't afford their food. Animal shelters exist for exactly this reason -- to take in animals whose owners can no longer care for them.
Clearly, this kind of violent and irrational behavior requires mental health counseling. This man of course should also not be allowed to own animals again in the future. It's time West Bend authorities step up and ensure this man can't have pets in the future and gets the care he needs.
