Stop Using Live Animals as Shooting Targets

"The state of Pennsylvania is currently considering improving their animal protection legislation by introducing a bill that would protect live animals from being used as targets. The bill, if passed, would also outlaw the slaughter and sale of domestic animals such as dogs and cats for human consumption. The bill passed the State House with overwhelming support and will soon enter the Senate for a vote.

The bill seeks to outlaw “pigeon shoots,” competition events where people shoot captive pigeons as they are released from cages or boxes. Oftentimes, birds are not killed by the shots, and are left to suffer in “dead piles” for hours or even days before death. There are some that even travel in from out-of-state to attend these competitions, as these types of cruelty are outlawed in almost every other US state.

Laws to prohibit such blatant forms of animal cruelty are long overdue in the state of Pennsylvania. It is good to see such support for the new animal protection laws, though it is important that continued support sees the bill to passing. Your signature will applaud the creators of the bill and ask them to do everything possible to ensure that it comes into law."
