Chile is considering expanding marine reserves and protecting special areas of their ocean from bottem trawling. Trawling is a form of fishing that drags huge chains and nets along the bottom of the sea floor, destroying everything in its path.
Trawling scoops up entire schools of fish, leaving little behind for seals, dolphins, and other animals to eat. It leaves a barren wasteland, destroying sea mountains and the colorful corals that are home to seals, sea lions, and the fish they need to stay alive.
We support and encourage Chile to take steps for ocean conservation by creating marine reserves to protect the unique Chilean ecosystem.
