Major improvements to NSFT Suffolk and Norfolk mental health services needed now!

The number of deaths have risen over a third in a year. The trust commissioned a report after existing statistics showed it had a higher number of deaths than other mental health trusts in the UK. Too many people are dying due to the neglect from the trust.

Last years' CQC in October 2016 inspection came out as "Requires improvement" on nearly all of their services offered and they were put under special measures but have since been taken out. Patient safety came out as "Inadequate" and here's what they said.... "The trust had systems in place to report incidents, however we found a number of incidents across the trust that had not resulted in learning or action. The trust had identified that there had been a high number of deaths of community patients and had commissioned an independent review to look in to this. The trust was addressing the issues that were highlighted through this work however we are concerned that overall rates of death remain high at the trust."

In 2012/13 53 patients died, but within three years that number rose to 158 and this year the number is likely to be even higher.

If it wasnt for me 2 of my family members would be dead due to lack of support from the services.

One example - A family member of mine was taken to A&E this week for deterioration in their mental health, But was refused an assessment from Suffolk mental health team as "feeling suicidal isn't an emergency" and they were only carrying out assessments on "people that had made a suicide attempt".

Please sign this petition if yourself or someone you know has been under this service and feels it needs change. Or if you have read this petition and agree changes need to be made!

Once I have 1000 Signatures I will be putting the petition into the hands of people who can help. CQC have been contacted.

No one should end their life due to lack of help & support!!
