Help Us Improve And Clean-Up Lovers Key Dog Beach

Like you, I love to watch my dogs run free with other canine friends at Lovers Key Dog Beach. But I guess, like you, we all brave the somewhat slimy conditions, (especially during low tide) and grin and bear it. You may have even invited family and friends to enjoy the beach, only to have them put off by the less than sanitary conditions. Therefore, we are asking Lee County to build a boardwalk that will run from the parking area to the beach area. Also, we would like to request a fence to be built to enclose the off-leash area to protect our dogs from running into the very busy main road just outside of the parking lot.
I frequent other Southwest Floriday beaches, and notice the boardwalks that have been build over muddy or environmentally sensitive areas. We feel that this enhancement will significantly improve this much loved area, and elevate it to the level of its neighbor, Lovers Key State Park, a highly publicized top beach destination.
