Force the SC Legislature to Enact a Hate Law Bill

To Who it may concern:

My name is Reverend Arthur W. Jenkins. Please use the following paragraphs and include any wording you see fit. The paragraphs to use are in quotation marks and are between a line of asterisks:

"South Carolina is one of only two states (the other one being Wyoming) that does not currently have a hate crime and/or hate speech law.

When hate crimes or hate incidents occur, everyone has a stake in ensuring an effective response. Individuals and communities must be prepared. For example, the most recent FBI hate crime report documented record-high levels of hate violence in the U.S. But how should you and your community respond? Hate must be exposed and denounced.

If South Carolina does not have a hate speech and/or a hate crime law, then the state is basically saying that hate speech or hate crimes is acceptable. This should not be so.

Let's push the South Carolina legislature to enact and pass a bill making hate crimes AND hate speech punishable by law."

I am not aware of how many signatures it would take to get a law passed. I would like to submit a suggestion for a petition. Personally, I am thinking that it would take 25,000 signatures - maybe more, maybe less. I just don't know.

Please add whatever wording you think is appropriate and necessary to get people to sign this petition.
