Kitties Scrumph and Joy should have been safe in their own home in Cape Coral, Florida. Instead, these two innocent cats endured a
nightmare no animal should ever face.
Their owner Libby Kastle noticed that one of her cat's legs was injured; when asked about the injury, her boyfriend claimed the two cats had gotten into a fight. But their owner knew these cats, and something wasn't adding up.
So she set up cameras inside their home, hoping to get to the bottom of her pet's injuries.
What she captured was unthinkable.Footage showed Kastle's boyfriend, Travis Fehr,
violently rip one of the terrified cats from under the bed where it was hiding, pin it to the ground, and punch it over and over again.Sign this petition now to demand that Cape Coral authorities ban this man from ever owning or living with an animal again. What Kastle witnessed through the cameras set up in her home was every pet owner's worst fear.
The violence was horrifying; police that reviewed the footage even noted that they could see
"blood in and around" the cat's mouth during the attack.
Fehr clearly took a toll on these poor cats, because their injuries were not minor.
Scrumph is now facing surgery for a badly broken leg, and Joy is recovering from trauma to her eye and mouth. The grief and fear their owner must be feeling is unimaginable, not to mention the financial burden of veterinary bills. But her babies survived.
These cats will need time, safety, and stability to recover.
They cannot ever risk being near the person who did this to them.Cape Coral authorities must act decisively. The charge of aggravated animal cruelty Fehr is facing is not enough on its own.
They must prevent this man from ever owning, caring for, or living in a home with animals again. Research is clear: violence against animals is often a warning sign of escalating harm.
