Dr. Anthony Fauci spent more than half a century using science to protect Americans from infectious diseases.
But because too many Republicans base their policies on complete bullshit rather than science, they are dragging the 85-year-old scientist back before Congress for another ridiculous, politically motivated interrogation.
Enough.
While Fauci urged Americans to follow science during COVID, Donald Trump promoted hydroxychloroquine, mused publicly about putting disinfectant inside the body, and helped create an atmosphere in which right-wing figures pushed ivermectin as a miracle cure.
People made dangerous medical decisions because they believed this garbage.
But Republicans are treating Fauci like the criminal.
And Trump's war on science continues. He put RFK Jr., one of America's most notorious anti-vaccine activists, in charge of public health. And surprise, surprise: measles is roaring back.
More than 2,300 cases have already been confirmed this year. Children are getting sick from a disease America essentially eliminated more than 25 years ago.
Republicans are persecuting the scientist while empowering the conspiracy theorists.
