What do billionaires like Jeff Bezos, Michael Bloomberg, and Elon Musk have in common? They pay virtually nothing in federal income tax. That's simply not fair. Billionaires shouldn't be paying less income tax than working individuals and families.

A recent poll of Arapahoe, Adams, and Jefferson counties found that Colorado voters are concerned about the lack of funding for critical services. In fact, fewer than a quarter believe these services currently have adequate funding. 77% of these voters said eliminating tax loopholes for large corporations was an acceptable way to invest more in our communities and 68% supported phasing out tax loopholes and credits for the ultra-wealthy.
As we build back after COVID-19, it's time for our lawmakers to do their duty and pass critical tax fairness legislation, like the temporary Child Tax Credit. Taxing the wealthiest 1% would fund critical services for the entire state, at a time when we need it the most.
