If you needed convincing that animal trafficking rings are a serious problem, look no further than the tragedy that just unfolded in Spain. Authorities just found over 250 dead animals in what is being aptly called a "breeding ground of horror." Rescuers described cages as being "totally covered in excrement," and some of the surviving animals were literally feeding off of the dead animals, clearly in a state of absolute desperation with no access to food or water. We must ensure that this type of violent abuse towards animals is never allowed to happen again.
Sign the petition to tell the Spanish Parliament to crack down on these types of animal trafficking rings immediately, and the Spanish Civil Guard to fully investigate how this abuse was able to go on for so long!
The scene described by authorities is straight out of a horror film. Among the dead animals were 28 chihuahuas and birds, all at varying stages of decomposition. Some of the corpses found had literally mummified.
Thankfully, the Civil Guard was able to save 171 animals from the tragic scene. Many were in life-threatening condition – who knows how many would have survived if the authorities arrived even a single day later.
