Introduce high-tech technology for marine pollution accidents!

Hello, I am a high school student who is interested in the environment.
Recently, I became interested in marine pollution accidents while studying about the ocean at school.
In the case of Korea, an average of 263 marine pollution accidents have occurred in the past 11 years.
And 554kl are leaked every year, most of which are oil spills.
In particular, in 2021, 247 pollutants were leaked, resulting in 312kl of marine pollutants.
If oil leaks into the sea, marine life can be fatal due to toxic ingredients contained in oil.
For example, plant plankton's productivity declines and the accumulation of concentrated oil products in the organs of marine life may even affect humans. Also, the damage caused by the oil spill will result in the mass death of life in fish farms in the nearby sea. And this makes it difficult for fishermen to make a profit. In adition, marine waste may cause ship accidents, lower fishing productivity, and damage tourism resources and scenery. Also, there are conflicts between countries due to garbage drift and large-scale collection and disposal costs. I think we should actively introduce various high-tech technologies around the world to solve these marine pollutants leakage accidents and marine waste problems more quickly and efficiently.
The first high-tech technology is the Oil Spill Fingerprint technology. The Oil Spill Fingerprint is a technology developed by the Korea KIOS. And it is a field technology that can detect the Oil Spill Fingerprint within an hour in the event of an oil spill accident. The Oil Spill Fingerprint means the unique chemical composition that each oil has. When oil is produced, there is a difference in production process and ingredient ratio, so each oil has different characteristics, which allows you to collect leaked oil and find ships that illegally leaked pollutants in the event of a spill.
In this way, it prevents the escape of ships suspected of oil spills through the inspection of oil wells, and responds fishermen's demands for resumption of fishing. We can prevent secondary marine pollution accidents through this technology. The second is the unmanned oil spill control boat 'Sheko(Shark)' developed in Norway. It uses a high-pressure water injector to move back and forth the oil spills and turn the oil into decomposable particles. Today, when oil leaks, people remove oil directly with adsorbents. But it is not good for the health of the controller who has to smell toxic oil when using the existing method, and it is not good for the environment due to carbon from incinerating the used adsorbents. Sheko reduces the time it takes for the existing method by 20% and reduces the cost of prevention. The third is the ‘Waste Shark’, a Dutch marine garbage robot. This is the form of a drone, and the waste shark collects and learns water quality data through built-in sensors to identify the path of waste and to collect marine waste and oil.
There are still many marine pollution accidents, and I think we should actively introduce high-tech technologies around the world to solve them. Using advanced technology is beneficial to the entire ecosystem including humans by preventing and dealing with marine pollution accidents quickly as well as effectively disposing of marine waste. Therefore, we should consider introducing high-tech technology for marine pollution accidents. Thank you for reading.
