Give Della Curry her job back, and start feeding kids who don't have enough money to pay for lunch

Della Curry, a lunch room manager at Dakota Valley Elementary School had a first grader in front of her, crying, because she didn't have lunch money. Della gave her lunch, like she's done on many occasions, even paying out of her own pocket. She admits she broke the law, but the law has to change. As a mother, how could she let this child eat one slice of cheese on a hamburger bun and call that anything else but punishment... please read the full story here:

Cherry Creek School District needs to change their rules, and give Della Curry her job back. She did the right thing.

Dear Cherry Creek School District,

Della Creek did the right thing when she decided to give a young child lunch.  She has, in the past, paid out of her own pocket for feed children who didn't have the money.

One slice of cheese on a hamburger bun with a small milk is not nutrition enough to carry a child through the day and inhibits that child's ability to learn.  Letting a child go hungry, and punishing the person who did the right thing is unconscionable, to say the least, and this rule of yours should change.

Not every parent can make it to the end of the month with the resources they have, and must rely on the school's breakfast and lunch programs to assure their kids have daily nutrition.

Not only should Della Curry be reinstated, with back pay, but this draconian rule that prohibits an employee from giving a child food, should be stricken.

Find another solution.  May we suggest a fund raiser, so that all children can eat everyday.  Extend lunch into summer months to support children who would not otherwise eat.  This would be the way to handle the situation, not firing an employee who shows she knows right from wrong.
